Thrift Shopping During A Pandemic

Let's brush up on what thrift shopping is. It's shopping second-hand, wearing pre loved clothes to continue the cycle instead of leading it towards its end in a landfill. These clothes are re-worn by people around the globe and contributes to their experience of experimenting with different styles and tastes as they thrift shop.

Now during a pandemic, the blot on the idea of thrift shopping has only widened it's range of unacceptance. With an already strong pillar of prejudice backing up people's decision to not shop second hand assuming it is unhygienic and a carrier of infection or simply looking down upon the idea of wearing somebody else's used clothes, the Covid-19 pandemic has only made the situation worse.

Or has it?

Thrift shopping doesn't have to stop because of a pandemic but is all the more a reason to adapt to it. You can now be assured that all your pieces will be sprayed with a disinfectant and packed untouched by most if not all brands and getting the excuse of being unclean out of the way.

However, while getting thrifty has become easier through online sites and pages we must make sure the clothes being delivered follow a certain set of guidelines and hygiene standards to prevent further transmission of any disease.

Keep these tips in mind the next time you shop:

1. Purchase Clean Clothes

The brand or store you purchase from bears the responsibility to make sure the fashion pieces are washed, disinfected and handled wearing gloves throughout their journey to your doorstep.

2. Shop From A Trustworthy Store

The place you shop from must be reliable and earn trust not through claims but through their service and action. These can be scaled or measured in terms of hygiene, quality, appeal, hassle free customer service and should not be willing to risk the safety of the people involved in the delivery process by shipping to red zones.

3. Don't Shop All At Once

Try and test. While it may contradict the idea of eco- friendly shopping in one step of the process but it remains the most important one. Only shop a few products before you make your next purchase to avoid being stuck with something you don't want and avoid the hassle of returning the products.

4. Choose Sustainable Packaging

If you're still paranoid about virus transmission opt for biodegradable packaging and discard it accordingly without any guilt of littering or hoarding plastic.

Now that you're equipped with everything you need to know before you shop second-hand clothes online go ahead and shop guilt free!
